Introduction

AirQ 101 is a battery powered wireless sensor. AirQ 101 is designed to be used both in large and small places, like rooms or freezers. AirQ 101 sensor is designed to work at very lower temperatures, down to -30°C, even if it is a battery powered sensor. AirQ 101 sends acquired data to an AirQ Networks Control Units (e.g. AirQ 200), and can be used to build complex applications using other sensors and/or control boards. User can freely set alarms and actions related to acquired temperature. Alarms can be sent through SMS (text messages) and E-Mail without using expensive accessories or phone plans.

Applications

AirQ 101 can be used in a unlimited number of applications. Being a flexible tool, it can be adapted to different usages and contexts. The AirQ graphical Rule System allows user to design its application and define how system react to particular temperature value. AirQ 101 can be successufully used to monitoring temperature for:

How to install?

Every AirQ 1XX can be installed directly where needed as long as operating temperature is respected. For example, an AirQ 100 temperature sensor can be placed inside a frozen room if temperature is higher or equal then -30°C up to +85°C. Using enclosures with flange, sensor can be applied to walls or fixed surfaces using screws.

What is the maximum distance between sensors and control units or range extenders?

There isn’t a fixed rule that states what is the maximum distance between sensors and control units. Maximum distance is related to the environment where sensors are placed. In closed spaces a distance higher then 50 meters is typically achievable. In open spaces maximum distance can be extended up to 500 meters and more. Using range extender the operative range can be extended as needed. At the end, some noisy devices (motors, high inductive devices, other wireless devices operating on 433Mhz) can reduce operative distance of sensors. As rule of thumb, we suggest to test the effective position of sensors and control units before to do final installation. It’s really common to obtain better RF performances simply changing devices position of some centimeters.

How often sensors send data to control units?

AirQ 1XX sensors are designed to reduce battery consumption and give the best accuracy of measurement in the same time. All AirQ 1XX sensors are programmed to work in a double mode:

  • If temperature is stable, sensor sends data to control unit every 8 minutes. This is important both to give current detected temperature and to signal sensor activity (if control unit doesn’t receive new data in 15 minutes, sensor is considered as ‘unlinked’ – see wiki for further information).
  • If temperature change more then ±0.5°C, sensor will send data in about 4 minutes.

Are sensors calibrated? Is it possibile to obtain calibration certificate?
All AirQ Networks sensor are calibrated by AirQ Networks and they guarantee declared precision for at least 1 year.

What is the difference between AirQ 100 and AirQ 101 sensors?

AirQ 100 is a low-cost wireless sensor, and does not provide all features provided by AirQ 101. First of all, AirQ 100 is not designed to work when temperature is lower than -10°C. Instead, AirQ 101 sensors is designed to work down to -30°C. Moreover, if battery life is not demanding for you, AirQ 101 can work down to -40°C. AirQ 101 sensor has a measurement precision of ±0.5°C and it can be calibrated. AirQ 100 has only a measurement precision of ±1°C and can’t be calibrated. AirQ 100 is the best solution to monitor environment temperature, and it’s the perfect companion for the HomeNET Home Automation system.

What do I need to use this sensor?

To use AirQ 100 wireless sensor you need an AirQ Networks control unit.

How many sensors can I use?

There is no limit to the number of sensor and control units you can use on the same sensor network.
